Moving your phpBB3 to another host
This is for Prosilver ONLY!!
Moving
your phpBB3 to another host is a very simple procedure.
1) Before moving to the new host go to your administration control panel, select
Maintenance, select backup under database. This is the best backup for restoring your
files. Make the backup and save a copy to your hard drive.
2)Download all of the phpBB3 files from your current host as well as any other files that
are being moved.
YOU MUST HAVE THE DATABASE BACKUP MADE BEFORE YOU SWITCH HOSTS!
3) Upload everything to the new host. Set up a new database for the forum. This will no
doubt have to be a completely different name than the one you currently have. Go to
phpMy Administration. At the top of the page select Import. Browse to the backup
database file you saved to your hard drive and select it. Press Go.
4) Using your ftp program (Filezilla or whatever you use) download configure.php.
These are your database settings. Change your settings to reflect the new database
name, new database user name and password and don't forget to change the server
setting at the top. The name of your server (probably localhost) can be found at the top
of phpMyAdministration where that Import selection was.
If you follow these steps your board will be up in a matter of minutes.
